Repentance is more than saying, “I’m sorry.” In our third step from Wilderness to Wisdom, we look at what it actually means to make a U-turn.
The Hebrew word for repentance, teshuvah, means to turn around or return to something you strayed from. To change your mind. Real repentance produces change, not guilt. And here’s what most of us miss: when you make a U-turn, you drive back past everything you drove past going the wrong direction. That’s the uncomfortable part. If we don’t face the root, we end up doing 360s instead of 180s. The scenery changes, but the dysfunction stays the same. That’s how the hamster wheel keeps spinning.
Making a U-turn may seem like a step backward. In the Kingdom, it’s actually the only way to move forward.
